ELECTRONIC MUSIC VIDEOS

TASK 4: Music Video

Brief:
You work for an independent video production company and have been tasks with producing a one minute extract from a music video aimed at fans of electronic/dance music. The age range of your audience is 16-30. (fans of electronic music)

Must contain representations from two different social groups ie - boy/girl, age, gay, class, ethnicity etc.

As part of the brief you will need to show:

research into the codes and conventions of existing music videos - embedded videos on blog, or links to youtube, list the C&Cs (at least 20) of micro-elements, identify which for your piece

research into the interests of the target audience - focus group, gather 10 people who like/interested edm, record answers about what they like, aka what we're putting in the piece - complete fiction

produce a storyboard for the minute of video you are producing - holy argh, be decent at drawing (meaning actually give information, don't worry about stick figures) or use pictures found elsewhere, screen-grabs of music vid research, amalgamation of these and drawings???, must be put on blog though mind, no definitive format so..., landscape not portrait!!!

shoot and edit the music video extract - the hard part man, consider access to stuff you need,

For this task you can work individually, in pairs or in groups of 3.

Any song whatever, find out how vimeo works and make account, or youtube but theyll take it down, vimeo won't
